No Kings. No Billionaire Gatekeepers Either.

Yesterday, during the No Kings day of action, Meta suspended the coalition’s Instagram account. Organizers lost access during a major voter-mobilization effort, weeks before the midterms. Meta later restored it, blamed an automated error and apologized. Reporting on the suspension, restoration and Meta’s explanation.

Oh. An error.
How reassuring. Democracy briefly fell down the back of Zuckerberg’s digital sofa. Everything’s fine now. Please enjoy a sponsored post about fucking protein powder.
I cannot tell you this was deliberate political censorship. I can tell you that “our system accidentally silenced a movement while it was mobilizing voters” is a spectacularly shit defence of that system.
Whether somebody pressed a button or an algorithm tripped over its own shoelaces, the people organizing were the ones left shouting through a disconnected microphone.
And that is the problem with handing our public square to billionaires.
We’re told we have a voice. Then we discover the microphone is rented, the landlord makes the rules, and the complaints department is a chatbot asking whether we’ve tried being less inconvenient.
A movement doesn’t disappear because its Instagram account does. People still organize. People still show up.
But why should their ability to reach each other depend on whether a billionaire’s machinery is having a fucking moment?
No kings. No digital feudal lords either.
Meanwhile, I’ll keep fighting fascism with truth and comedy.
Call me Don Quixote. The windmills now have shareholders, and apparently I’ve violated their community guidelines.
Sour thought: The revolution will not be televised. Its account is under review.
Personal commentary and satire. The comic’s scenes and dialogue are imagined. There is no verified evidence that Zuckerberg personally ordered the suspension.
