The Epstein Memo Apparently Needed a White House Editor

The Epstein scandal apparently needed a fucking communications department.

Newly reported emails show Taylor Budowich, then Trump’s White House deputy chief of staff, asking FBI Director Kash Patel for a draft of the DOJ/FBI Epstein memo:

“Have something I can edit?”

Patel supplied it. White House communications staff were subsequently brought into the process. This was the memo that would announce there were no grounds for further investigation.

How reassuring. Nothing inspires confidence in independent law enforcement quite like a political official asking for editing privileges.

Was there a track-changes option for public trust? A little dropdown menu marked Make This Fucking Go Away?

Here’s the distinction that matters: these emails demonstrate White House involvement in preparing the memo. They do not, by themselves, prove that Trump ordered an investigation stopped or establish a criminal cover-up.

But they leave a question that deserves a proper answer:

Why was the White House helping shape the explanation for why the public wouldn’t get more answers?

Epstein’s victims deserve accountability. The public deserves to understand how investigative decisions were reached. Neither should have to make do with whatever survived a political communications review.

And before someone starts: appearing in a file does not automatically make someone guilty. That is precisely why evidence matters—and why decisions about investigating it deserve scrutiny.

I’m tired of institutions treating public trust like a branding problem. You cannot restore confidence by changing the font on “nothing to see here.”

So I’ll keep doing what I do every day: fighting fascism with truth and comedy.

Fire up the bullshit signal. Apparently, accountability needs a fucking editor.

Dark satirical comic featuring Budowich, Kash Patel, Dani as Batman, Eazy and Hazel, and the bullshit signal.
Truth. Comedy. Keep asking questions.
